KBA launches gender disaggregated MSME data analysis tool! Check it out here.
On 4 December 2025, Kenya formally adopted the WE Finance Code, marking an important milestone in closing the gender financing gap for women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (WMSMEs). The launch, held alongside the unveiling of the country’s National Financial Inclusion Strategy 2025–2028 and the Fourth Medium-Term Plan for the financial services sector, signals a coordinated national commitment to embed gender-responsive finance into Kenya’s broader financial inclusion framework.
Through this adoption, financial service providers, regulators and development-finance partners commit to concrete actions: designating senior leadership champions, collecting and reporting gender-disaggregated data, and creating tailored financial products and services for women entrepreneurs. The WE Finance Code Kenya Chapter aims to boost access to credit for women-owned businesses, support sustainable growth, and strengthen economic participation by women across the country.
WE Finance Code Kenya Chapter invites you to the awareness workshop for the introduction of the WE Finance Code Kenya Chapter, a pivotal event to accelerate women’s financial access for the Women Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (WMSMEs) in Kenya.
This workshop, organised by the WE Finance Code Kenya Working Group, is a critical step toward the official launch of the WE Finance Code Kenya Chapter in October 2025.
The WE Finance Code is a global initiative by the World Bank to drive systemic reforms through leadership, data interpretation and taking action for women’s access to finance. This workshop aims to:
Raise awareness about the principles, objectives, and transformative potential of the WE Finance Code for Kenya and your organisation.
Encourage stakeholder commitment to support the adoption and implementation of the WE Finance Code in Kenya, aligning with various strategies, including the forthcoming National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS).
Equip organisations and individuals to cascade knowledge to WMSMEs ecosystem partners
Build momentum for the WE Finance Code, Kenya Chapter October 2025 launch.
Women constitute half of Kenya’s population and are vital to economic growth, yet WMSMEs face significant barriers to finance. The WE Finance Code promotes leadership accountability, gender-disaggregated data, inclusive solution design, and policy reform to unlock this potential. Your participation will help shape a more inclusive financial ecosystem, driving economic resilience and growth.
